January is a big month for French fashion. Ann Seymour is one of our original Fashionlines team. Ann probably knows more about art than anyone we have ever met, but her secret love is uncovering the doings of the rich and famous-- many of whom count Ann as a friend. She has a slew of devoted male readers, but one fabulous husband, Dr. Robert Seymour, two beautiful daughters and some amazing grandsons. She is beautiful, charming and mega-talented, and we are proud to feature Ann this month. Ann Seymour is an honor graduate from Stanford where she studied writing under Wallace Stegner. She also took graduate courses in Asian art and later participated in the prestigious Squaw Valley Community of Writers, which has produced four National Fiction Prize winners and one Nobel Laureate, Tillie Olsen. Participants include English professors from UC, Stanford, Harvard, Yale,. and elsewhere. It is not a training camp, rather an exchange of ideas and workshops for professional writers. Ann originally worked as an art critic for Artforum and Artweek, then became a feature writer for the San Francisco Chronicle, San Jose Mercury News, San Diego Union, and California Magazine. She interviewed a wide range of people including Nobel laureate physicist Arthur Schalow and NASA SETI director Jill Tartar, upon whose life a feature film staring Jodie Foster was made. The Arthur Schalow piece, written for West Magazine in the San Jose Mercury News, won a national award. Ann's guest appearances have included KRON TV and KSFO radio. She edited the California Artists' Cookbook, 1980 (Abbeville) and took charge of its marketing.
